It’s Time To Register
The Climax Tackle sponsored Green Un Club Match Angler Championship semi final will be staged on the May Day Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May at Lindholme Fisheries. The draw will take place in the fishery cafe from 08.00 onwards with fishing between the hours of 10am and 3pm.
As ever, Geoff and Pauline Hurt will take charge of proceedings at the draw and no doubt they’ll be running an optional £5 pool on the day for those who are interested.
If you have qualified for the semi and wish to take part in what is certain to be a brilliant event you’ll need to register and pay for your ticket in advance by visiting Climax Tackle, Dronfield, tel: 01246 412233. The £15 charge covers your match pools and pegging fees.
The match itself will be split into 20 sections and it is the winner of each section who will qualify for the final itself at Aston Ponds on Saturday 3rd May. You may finish second overall in the semi but other than a handsome payout it will count for nothing if you don’t win your section. It is only the section winners that make it through to the final which means every competitor has a fair chance of making it through to the big one.
Assuming a fully pooled up turn-out of just 200 anglers the payouts at the semi final alone are likely to be in the region of:
Winner £500
Runner-up £425
Third £375
Fourth £325
Fifth £275
Sixth £225
Seventh £175
Eighth £125
Ninth £75
Tenth £25
We’ll also be paying out a £15 mini-section prize for every ten pegs and this is in addition to the twenty main section qualifiers who will, in addition to receiving their passage to the final, also be rewarded with a £50 tackle voucher courtesy of Tony Flint that can be redeemed against any items of tackle in the huge Climax Tackle superstore.
If the take-up of competing anglers exceeds two hundred, and this is very likely as we have over 300 qualifiers, then the payouts will increase accordingly.
The final will take place at Aston Ponds’ Snake Lake two weeks after the semi final on Saturday 15th May and one lucky angler will be crowned Club Match Angler Champion for 2009/10. He will also be presented with the Colin Dyson Memorial cup and a Climax voucher worth £2,000. The runner-up will receive £1,000, third place £500, fourth £300 and fifth £200. Pay-outs don’t come better than this in a 20-peg match, do they?
Oh, and Geoff will no doubt run an optional sweepstake for those who are interested.
This really is the biggest, most fantastic, club match angler competition in the whole of the UK and no other newspaper can boast a competition that can remotely compare with it so if your name is in the list, get yourself down to Climax and register. Make sure you remind your club mates, too.
